Morris Early Childhood - Congratulations Jennifer Legg, Morris Early Childhood Center’s 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Legg is a Special Education Kindergarten Teacher at Morris. Prior to becoming a teacher at Morris Mrs. Legg taught Pre-K at Avenue Preschool for six years and served as a paraprofessional in our district while acquiring her teaching certificate. She serves on various committees at the school level and teaches ELA at Polytech twice a week for their Early Literacy Program. She is an extremely dedicated teacher who advocates for her children day in and day out, but most of all she is a true inspiration to others. We are excited to have her represent us at Morris Early Childhood Center! Congrats, Jennifer!
Banneker Elementary - Congratulations to Sandy Tinsley for being named Banneker’s Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Tinsley is a caring and compassionate 3rd grade immersion teacher. Her energetic and creative nature makes her students want to learn. She establishes a true classroom “family” where her students trust and encourage each other to be their BEST. Her students will tell you that Mrs. Tinsley makes her lessons “fun” and as the student who nominated her said, “she always listens to us and teaches us a lot of great things!” Mrs. Tinsley is a life-long learner herself, and recently completed her Master’s degree in Educational Technology. She has used her knowledge in this area to create dynamic remote learning experiences for her students, something especially important now. Mrs. Tinsley is also a teacher leader who shares her expertise with her colleagues. We are honored to have Mrs. Tinsley represent Banneker as this year’s Teacher of the Year. Congrats, Sandy!
Mispillion Elementary - Congratulations to Jennifer Nichols for being named Mispillion Elementary's Teacher of the Year! In Ms. Nichols’ third grade classroom, she focuses on creating a positive environment for her students both for their learning and for their social emotional well-being. She understands that each child grows and develops at their individual pace, and plans for and supports them to reach their highest potential. She grows her students by building individual relationships with them and their families. She connects with them by sharing her love of reading and dogs. As the third grade instructional coach, she leads her team members by providing them with guidance and support that comes from her experiences and her passion for learning. Congratulations, Jennifer!
Ross Elementary - Congratulations to Kim Webb for being named Ross Elementary's Teacher of the Year! As a fourth grade teacher, Ms. Webb’s classroom instruction and knowledge of student needs and learning is admirable. Leadership is one of the many attributes she demonstrates as the Instructional Coach for her grade level team and lead teacher mentor for the district and has served our school and district in a variety of capacities ranging from Special Education Coordinator for the building and previous Milford School District Teacher of the Year, to coach of one of our State Softball Championship teams, and currently serving on the district “We Are Milford” committee. Congratulations, Kim!
Central Academy - CONGRATULATIONS to Kristin Schlegel for being named Milford Central Academy’s Teacher of the Year! Kristin has been a teacher in our district for the past 22 years, teaching French and now Social Studies. Mrs. Schlegel has a drive and dedication to her students that is obvious in her participation in World History and Economics seminars and being selected to participate in the National Geographic Teacher Leadership Academy for teaching. Kristin has served as a mentor to new teachers and is her department lead for 6th grade social studies. We are proud of everything Mrs. Schlegel has accomplished during her teaching career and are honored to be able to recognize her as MCA’s Teacher of the Year. Congrats, Kristin!
Milford High - Congratulations to Amy Roscoe for being named Milford High Schools Teacher of the Year! Amy is from a family of excellent educators. As a special education teacher, Amy always finds creative ways to educate our most struggling students. Her drive and dedication to meet the needs of all students is amazing. She is also a mentor teacher in our building and has been instrumental in providing guidance to many of our new teachers here at MHS. We are fortunate to have her on our staff and look forward to Amy having a wonderful career here at Milford High School.
